This upcoming May 3

I was supposed to be doing my fourth treatment this week, but because I lost my voice on Monday, they thought it prudent to push it by one week. Which means that on May 3, I will be rather ill. But who cares about May 3?

I do. On May 3, 2007, I learned that I had a huge tumour in my esophagus. So I was wondering what I should do this May 3. What sort of ritual could I do? I can't say that I should have a celebration necessarily, unless I would celebrate my survival. I suppose I could do that. But perhaps a symbolic action would be more appropriate. Do any of you have ideas?

I dunno, it's up to you. I tend not to focus on my past trauma, else I'd never focus on the present.

That's a good point. But I like anniversaries and rituals, and my photo therapist thinks it might be a good idea to come up with something. I dunno.

May 3rd happens to be on a Saturday (Saturn-day), ruler of illness and death but also symbol of purification and wisdom. Get yourself a box of red or pink playdohTM and make it into the shape of what was your oesophagus and stomach. You may retrieve the photo of your removed gullet and look at it to have a likeness in your sculpture. Do make 2 small balls of 1cm to figure the metastasis. Then, put your playdohTM-gullet in a bag, go to the Old Port and throw it in the already polluted St-Lawrence River. Wish your tumors and cut-out organs goodbye forever, washed away with the water element.

Go out - eat some crab.

Chomp that fucker;

Chomp it Gooooooood.

Delicious revenge, on several levels.

I find the best way to commemorate an important event is to celebrate what that event allowed you to do. That event allowed you to be alive. Celebrate life and all the big and small wonders that you can still experience. Have a great glass of wine; eat your favourite meal, at your favourite place, with your favourite people. Smell some flowers; watch the sun rise or set; feel the sun or rain or breeze on your face.
