Jonas has now been in his room since 9pm yesterday. The surgery took six and a half hour all in all, finishing at around 3pm. The rest of Monday evening was spent in the recovery room of the hospital. The surgeon, Dr. Ferri, believes pretty much everything cancerous or potentially cancerous has been taken out but we need to wait for lab tests to come back in about a week to have a better idea of the outcome.
Here, you can see all the tubes he has:
I told him about all of your messages, comments and requests to come for visits. He is pretty out of it, though, dozy from the epidural and morphine. You talk to him and suddenly his eyeballs turn upward and he is gone. Not your usual Jonas. He was able to sit for 30 minutes in his chair this morning but had to go back to bed. He needs help to get to and from his chair because standing makes him dizy. He said he was not sure he could receive friends until Monday, especially since his family is coming to visit from out of town and will be by his side pretty much all weekend. I will let you know when he tells me he is ok to see people.
Thanks to Martine ( http://www.martinepage.com/blog/ ) who put up a Facebook recovery support group for Jonas. Thanks to Zura ( http://zurants.wordpress.com/ ) who is administering the comments and letting your good words pour in.
He is also thirsty but cannot drink nor eat. He has to use a sponge, dip it in water and rub it on his mouth and tongue without swallowing:
My dear love, you are very much loved by friends, many, many friends and watched over by the best doctors on this continent: Dr. Sivaraman (your best friend), Dr. McNamee (your brother-in-law), Dr.Ferri (your excellent surgeon who trained in Japan to learn this delicate and complex surgery).
Come back to us healthy and live!

Rose

Nevertheless, it looks like the spark is still there.
Take all the rest you need, Jonas (and Rose, too). We're all still sending you healing and supportive vibes. (Heh, now I'm going to go and moderate my own comment).
So great to see that thumb up! And I love your stockings! You always manage to look stylish. ;-)
Sending you big huuuuuggs!
Happy to hear that all is well.
As Andre has said: the sparks is still there, i can see it!
Get some rest, both of you!
Hey, ah, Jonas. I think you got a booger.
:-)
Great to see the thumbs up!
And thumbs up to you my friend. Looking forward to seeing you again, I'm sure you'll have various hospital stories to tell ;)
Something tells me there's a tube somewhere in there that we're not seeing. :)
Oh yeah...there is a thick tube in there going to the bladder (to make all you men shiver with horror) but he does not feel it.
*sniff*
Jonas, you look delightfully un-gay in these photos ('cuz, uh, I know how important that is to you!) ;)
I realize it may be a few days before visitors can start to pour in, but let us know when you will be accepting phone calls to your room at least? Dude, it's great to see your "thumb's up" - but to hear it in your voice... once we hear that, once we can hear you roar... s'all good.
Hey Alston. Glad to hear the surgery was a success. Get lots of rest and take it easy. Here's hoping for a smooth recovery.
Alston. Glad to see you with a smile and to hear that the surgery went well. You've been in my thoughts (kinda like a mancrush, but not really) ever since we got back and read Rose's post about the surgery and the beginning of your stay at the hospital. We hope for a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing the reconfigured and rebuilt Jonas Parker soon.
O my. You look much better than I did after I had only a short operation. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Not drinking sucks, especially with this hot weather. I hope things down there heal quickly, so you can drink some water soon. Hang ik there. In the mean time here's a virtual flower. (I hope the ascii art survives...)
