Clothes whores

| | Comments (2)

These shorts cost $430. A coworker is very good friends with a self-proclaimed metrosexual clothing whore who bought a shirt from these guys, D-Squared. The shirt cost about $380. The coworker has borrowed the shirt and is wearing it today.

I have to admit, it's a nice shirt, but that's pretty much all I can say about it. That shirt costs as much as rent for many people living here. It has wear and tear premade into it, which isn't something I understand at all. But clearly I don't understand fashion. I wear clothes mainly because they are comfortable and fit a specific function. I simply can't bring myself to pay for aesthetics most of the time, especially if it raises the price of something by a factor of 5. I wouldn't even bother pirating clothes if I could.

Are you a clothes whore? Do you know any? Shoe whores? Everyone knows a shoe whore. One of those Marketing Women in my old company has 60 pairs and thinks that it is normal. All the other ones seemed to agree. If you can explain this, tell me about it in the comments.

Classism or reality?

A coworker who has had the lovely job of having to collect rent in his father's buildings when he was a younger had the following to say:

"The domestic odour of every deadbeat in QC reeks of ashtrays and cat piss."

He then added:

"Morin Heights is the cesspool of human failure."

I've never been to Morin Heights, and he never qualified his statement. He just walked away. But it makes you wonder about people sometimes, and what they really think about you when you're not around. But surely he was overstating himself for effect.

Kid in the Hall

My friend Daywalker, also known as Pookie or Ulka, shot me this email:

So at lunch today, I walked into my cafe, to sit at the window table and I saw a trio right next to it, eating lunch and discussing. I looked and blinked and my eyes grew wide - by jove, it was Mark McKinney from Kids in the Hall!!! I politely and discreetly interrupted their conversation to say "Hi, I'm sorry to interrupt, Mark McKinney?" "Yes?" he said. "I'm Ulka, I'm such a fan, I just wanted to say hi." "Ulka," he replied, "nice to meet you." And we all went back to lunch and I sat there chewing and wondering if I might have said something wittier, funnier, better.. heh. :) neato!

Have you had any brushes with celebrity lately?

Zany Office Faggot

| | Comments (0)

This is EXACTLY how I feel about zany faggot queens. Well, maybe not exactly. This is probably how I would feel about zany faggot queens if I were gay. They're just like office bimbos that men "tolerate" because they're hot (or at least outwardly willing). We have one of those. The senior sales rep in the office deliberately ignores her ridiculous personality because he wants to fuck her so much. Of course, he's married. Anyway, enjoy the link.

By the way, for me gay does not necessarily mean faggot. The guy ranting in the link is gay. The one he is ranting about is a faggot. Get the difference? This isn't an anti-gay post, it's an anti-stupid bimbo post.

Mom turns 70

I mentioned that today was my mom's 70th birthday. My fucking coworker pipes up says, "Why don't you get her something nice? Like a cane?"

Fucking guy. And that's what it's like on a sales floor.

Angel Wings

I would like to present my new niece, Ava Jane Elliott, born April 12, 2005. You can’t really see, but she has deep blue eyes. As I understand it, if they haven’t changed colour after a month, they probably won’t. She is also white as a ghost (for a person that is technically black), although I expect her to darken a little. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Interesting story about her older sister: When she was less than a year old, the family was shopping somewhere when the girl started throwing a super fuss. Bil (white brother-in-law) decided to take her outside. A man, not believing that this Aryan could be the father of this black baby and was abducting her, followed JP and prevented him from leaving. He had to go back into the store and be cleared by my sister (who, at the time, didn’t take it seriously because she thought that the man knew JP). Needless to say, although the man did apologize and probably did the right thing, JP was quite pissed.

Here's a question: Would you have noticed such a thing, and if so, would you investigate?

Piano

If you live in Montreal, or if you know anyone that does, I have a piano for sale. I really want to sell this thing in order to move, so spread the word! I'll post pictures when I get the chance.
